Dismas Macha grew up in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro and has always had great care for the people of Tanzania and its ecosystems. He had a vision to start an organization that would serve and be beneficial to the Tanzanian people, those who volunteer, and the natural resources the people depend on. Dismas has a wife and children in Arusha and is also a renowned conservationist with the conservation authority at Ngorongoro Crater and oversees the African Blackwood Conservation Project.
Jesse Amo grew up in Minnesota (USA) and prompted by God began traveling to love and serve the people of Africa with a willing heart and hands to people in poverty in Mozambique and Tanzania. While working as an aquatic biologist he was called to Africa and began getting involved connecting with and serving the people. This led to reconnecting with Dismas and directing the KVF while also acquiring the responsibility of one of our partner orphanages (The Happiness Home) when its founder could not continue to run the orphanage for health reasons and left it abandoned.
Jesse and Dismas met while attending the same university in the US and obtaining similar degrees in Zoology and Natural Resource Management and quickly became friends. Several years later they reconnected with a shared vision and a partnership in the Kilimanjaro Volunteer Foundation to see it carried out. The foundation of KVF is built on relationships and love that we have built with partner organizations to see their missions carried through and bring volunteers into a meaningful connection with the people.
With your help we wish to bring love, light, and life to the Tanzanian people and be the change we wish to see in Tanzania. We look forward to you joining us on this great adventure!
