Our heart, and goal together with you is to serve the Tanzanian people and break through the oppression of abandonment, abuse, and poverty. To bring hope and joy to the people of Tanzania. All of our volunteer opportunities are thus focused to serve the people first and foremost and provide them with tools for a lasting life change and opportunity. Rather than start a self-contained independent group, we saw great need and have made it our goal to partner with established Tanzanian groups and join them toward achieving their missions.
Kilimanjaro Volunteer Foundation provides a connection between you and the Tanzanian people in the greatest need. We offer a personalized experience, full logistical support, accommodation, hospitality, and excursions. A key component of the KVF is our commitment to relationships with our partner groups and creating an experience for you to serve and create lasting relationships with the Tanzanian people. We come alongside the local people, honoring them and their culture by laying down our lives and ideas and being quick to listen and slow to speak while being quick to love and serve as Jesus lived, taught, and instructed we do the same. We do not use a cookie cutter approach, rather we will provide an experience that "fits you" and uses your gifts, bringing the most fulfillment to the people you are serving.
We want to free up your focus to be on serving the people, so we strive to serve you and ensure you are well equipped to do so. We start with an informal interview process to learn more about your desires in wanting to serve and match your skills and experience with one of our partners. When you are ready to book your trip; you take care of airfare, visas, and immunizations and we will take care of the rest. We will pick you up from the Kilimanjaro airport, take you to our beautiful guest house, our chef will cook the meals, the house will be cleaned, laundry will be done for you, we will provide private transportation to your volunteer placement, we even offer additional excursions like safaris, Mt. Kilimanjaro treks, and getaways to Zanzibar Island. We can't wait to plan a trip with you and hope it will become an annual adventure! Our goal is to provide an experience that will change the lives of the people you serve while being life changing for you as well.
The KVF Mission: to connect people with the Tanzanian people to bring love, life, and hope to those in poverty who have been abandoned, abused, and oppressed.
How we are accomplishing our mission:
1. Creates relational connections between you (volunteers) and former orphaned and abused kids of Tanzania as well as offering other volunteer opportunities which serve the people. This is accomplished through YOU coming to Tanzania to volunteer with our partner groups and connect with the kids and creating lasting relationships. It is said, “It takes a village to raise a child” and now the village is worldwide and coming together in providing love, funding, and opportunity for these kids. Outcomes include sponsoring projects in our partner children’s centers (food, micro agriculture, clothing, hygiene, school supplies), sponsoring individual child education, and investing in micro loans for entrepreneurship.
2. Serves alongside three partner children’s centers to assist in achieving their missions and exceeding goals. My first visit to Tanzania the great need of these groups and the dream God had put in the heart of the Tanzanians who started these groups gripped my heart. So KVF has made its mission to support these groups through projects with finances, volunteers, and partnership. The first is the Happiness Home (described in detail below) which is funded by the KVF. The second is LOHADA which has two centers for various age children and houses over 200 children total. The third is Samaritan Village, a center of 32 kids who were abandoned at infancy.
3. Happiness Home: In mid-2015 KVF found an abandoned children’s center called the Home for Future Happiness and took on funding of what is now Happiness Home paying rent and providing food, hygiene, and school needs. There is currently a Tanzanian housekeeper and six bright young girls ages 13-18 who are living in the house. The girls have been in the house for roughly Ten years five of which are in/entering secondary school and one still in primary school. The girls were orphans and rescued from the street and risk of being sex trafficked or selling their own bodies for food on the street. We maintain this mission to provide a nurturing home filled with the love of God, excellent schooling, job projects (for girls to start making money for their future raising chickens, sewing, and crafting things to sell, and entrepreneurship microloans through a partner group.
